The Reset Retreat: Yucca Valley

What to Expect

I tattoo Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays 10.30- 6 pm in Bath

To book a tattoo, please send me any reference images you may have. It’s better if you send me multiple images to take inspiration from. Please also send me any description of how you'd like your tattoo to look. Let me know how big in cm you'd like the tattoo, where on the body it is going, and send me one or more tattoos from my instagram you'd like your tattoo to be tattooed similarly to. Let me know if you’d like your tattoo to be in colour or black and grey. Please also send me some photos of the area to be tattooed taken straight on (no angles) and preferably taken by someone else rather than in a mirror.

Please message me to book a consultation rather than spontaneously coming by the shop, I am generally tattooing consistently throughout the day, unless it’s my lunch break, and will be committed to a customer during that time. If you book I can make proper time for you also!

I'll agree a price with you before booking, you can message me to book, or for more involved pieces I can arrange a free in person consulation with you at your convenience. Tattoos are priced hourly or by the piece, and the price is calculated by how long I think the piece will take me.

Please bear with me if I don’t reply to your messages right away. Most of the time I’m tattooing consistently 10.30- 6 and replies are conducted in my free time. I usually reply to messages 2-4 times a day. You’ll get a quicker response from me on Instagram than via email or Facebook, as this is the method the largest percentage of my customers choose to interact with me, so I use it more often!

I will no longer be doing messages on Sunday and Monday, these are my days off from work, so I won't be available then I'm afraid! If you have an urgent need to contact me regarding aftercare, there is a video on my instagram where I go over what I will have told you at the end of your appointment.

All deposits/booking fees are non-refundable. Cancellations must be made no less than 48 hours before your appointment. If you cancel closer to your appointment you will unfortunately have to pay another deposit.

Please do not book in unless you are certain you want a tattoo.

Deposits cover my drawing time and some loss of earnings for myself and the shop if you fail to show to get tattooed. This is my full-time job, and I too have financial commitments, and the shop has bills and desk staff to pay. I cannot guarantee to fill your booking slot at the last minute, and it isn't good for me to have a day where I don't earn money at work!

If you need to move your appointment you will have the chance to change the date no more than 3 times. If you need to move your appointment more than 3 times you will unfortunately have to pay another deposit. If you no show me, and lose your deposit more than 3 times, I will ask you to pay in full as the deposit for any future bookings.

I am usually booked up around a month in advance. If you'd like to book a certain date, time or day, to avoid disappointment, I'd recommend you think ahead and don't try to get in last minute. You can look out on my stories and I'll post if I have a last minute cancellation! Saturdays are my busiest day, so you're more likely to get in quicker on my weekday workdays. I do try to leave a few gaps for walk-ins now and then in the afternoon, so there is sometimes the possibility I'll be free for a small tattoo!

I never show designs before appointments; it’s best to do your due diligence and research before contacting me to see if I am a good fit for you as an artist. Hopefully your research will show if I am, and if not, that’s ok. You can make sure an artist is a good fit for you if you like the rest of the tattoos they produce. You should check their portfolio thoroughly. You can also meet me in person for a consultation before your appointment if you'd like to. If you’re nervous about getting a large custom piece from me, it may be best to get a smaller piece to get familiar with my working process and see if you’d like to work with me for larger work.

At the beginning of the appointment small amendments can be made to your design if needed, and I find it’s easier to do that in person than send messages back and forth! All my design work is done in my free time outside of the studio, so my time is limited to go back and forth with you, as I have other obligations outside of work. Your payment is for the final tattoo, and I do not charge a design fee. I do not draw designs until a deposit is paid. Sorry about that.

Please be very clear about what you want tattooed, and please understand that I won’t just copy someone else’s tattoo for you. I’ll take inspiration from others’ work for you, but it is poor form for me to copy it directly. You can let me know what you like about your reference, eg, colour, certain flowers used, expression, and I can include those. Your final design will not look exactly like your reference though! The same goes for AI, AI doesn’t know the rules of designing a well-constructed tattoo, and some levels of detail are not possible in a tattoo because of the limitations of skin.

If you’re certain you like my portfolio and are clear about the elements you want in your tattoo that’s cool, just make sure to let me know what parts of your reference images you like and need included. If you’re certain you'd rather give me more artistic freedom, that’s cool too, just specify which is important to you. If you have a design you've drawn yourself and you want me to tattoo for you, that’s also cool, though I may have to make small amendments to make it work as a tattoo for you.

To reserve one of my pre-drawn designs you will be required to pay a deposit/booking fee. If you haven't yet paid a deposit then the design is available to other people, even if you have messaged saying you'd like the design.

Before your tattoo:

Please do not consume alcohol, recreational drugs or pain killers that may thin your blood (such as aspirin) 24 hours before your appointment. Please get a good night’s sleep before. You will be able to handle the pain of the tattoo a lot more if you are well rested, and your healing will be faster.

Please moisturise your skin leading up to your tattoo, and make sure you drink water regularly and eat well! Your skin will hold the tattoo better this way!

On the day of your tattoo:

Please shower before your appointment

Please eat a substantial meal before coming in

Please bring along a form of ID and the remainder to pay for your tattoo in cash

Please feel free to bring one friend into the waiting room with you. But please do be aware that they will not be able to accompany you into the tattooing room. This is to ensure a sanitary and professional work environment for you and anyone else being tattooed in that moment. I would rather give you, your opinion and your tattoo 100% of my attention than your friend! We are a busy studio and do not have space for everyone to have a friend with them.

Please arrive 10 minutes early for your appointment

Please let us know if you will be late. You can do this by calling the shop phone. I most likely won’t see your message as I’ll be setting up for your appointment. If you are more than 10 minutes late, your appointment slot may be lost.

We do not allow any babies or children in the tattoo studio.

Please stay hydrated throughout your appointment. Please bring a bottle of water with you.

Please bring snacks/ a sugary drink to help with your ability to tolerate the tattooing process.

Please dress appropriately, or bring a change of clothes with you if necessary. Please think about the placement of your tattoo. I'll need you to wear clothes that allow access to the area being tattooed. If you are having your leg tattooed please wear shorts or bring along a pair to change into.

If you are having your back tattooed, please bring an old button up shit or zip up hoodie that can be reversed so I have access to your back. Alternatively, you can wear a crop top/bikini top with very little back that can be moved out of the way

If you are coming along for a whole day sitting please consider that we will take a lunch break. You can bring a packed lunch with you, and there are also lots of options for lunch surrounding the shop. We will take a 30 minute lunch break when appropriate during a day session.

After your tattoo

Please do not soak your tattoo for 2-3 weeks.

This means no baths, not hot tubs, and no swimming. Showers are fine though. Heavy exercise can also affect your tattoo, so please be considerate of this.

Keep your tattoo clean! It is best to use clean paper towels to pat your tattoo dry after washing.

Apply Palmer’s coconut butter, or your preferred product of aftercare, two to three times a day during the healing. Don't overdo it though, as leaving a tattoo wet can encourage ink to drop out during the healing process.

Please do not apply fake tan or makeup to the tattooed area for at least 3 weeks after your appointment.

If I have specific requirements for healing your tattoo I'll let you know at the end of your appointment.

Please feel free to message me if you have questions.
